El Condor Pasa
Sorry, today I’m running late! Day 28 of blogging.
Using Paul Simon’s songs as the inspiration for my blogs, today I’m feeling inspired by “El Condor Pasa” The title is in Spanish because the music was composed by Daniel Alomía Robles, in 1913, a Peruvian. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel later added their lyrics to the melody.
After looking at the lyrics, I think the song is partly a critique of our society, pointing out how many of us have lost our way and gotten distracted by a minutia of day-to-day life. It also expresses this primal and deep desire to live a life that is not only meaningful but also beautiful. It’s pretty easy to get distracted by all of the events on the current world stage and succumb to the stress of the pandemic! This song is a reminder we need to slow down live in the moment.
