The lyrics for the song “Old Friends,” written by Paul Simon, paints a portrait of two old men reminiscing on the years of their youth. The two men sit "on a park bench like bookends" and ponder how strange it feels to be nearing the end of their lifetimes.
At what age do we start contemplating our final exit? Does it depend on biological age? Relative health? Emotional state? I think it begins when we notice our peers are beginning to leave this world for whatever comes next. What are your thoughts?
