Kodachrome

I’m getting an early start today…welcome to day 61!

Eleven days till our book release date! My thanks to Paul Simon for never letting me down with his inspirational words and music, let’s talk about “Kodachrome “

It could be a song about drugs, the little plastic film containers were sometimes used to store weed (or so I’ve been told) and maybe he’s begging to hold on to the vivid imagination he would enjoy while partaking? You can pretty much read drug-use into any song, if you want.

I think the song is about the starkness of reality versus limitless possibilities one finds through imagination and memory. ‘Kodachrome’ being a euphemism for his memory and the ‘Nikon camera’ maybe alluding his mind taking snapshots, attempting to capture specific moments in his life.

Look at your past in full color and hope to be objective. Or is everything rather black and white where you are forced to take sides. If that’s the message, I think Jean & I did a decent job in writing the memoir.
